Freelance Senior Event Manager | Complex Event Delivery, Operations & Stakeholder Management. Based in Perth, supporting clients nationally.

Holiday mode is over and I’m ready for a busy June Holiday mode is over and I’m ready for a busy June!

• A call from a former colleague last month looking for immediate support on a roadshow has turned into an extended opportunity through June.

• I’m starting the month with delivering two events for two different clients. My favourite part of the job - so a rewarding way to kick off of June!

• As part of my role as Operations Lead for a premium BD client, I’m looking forward to helping launch two new business development teams for them in Perth this month.

• June means EOFY preparations. Time to get the finances organised, review the numbers and set up for a strong start to the new financial year.
Today was my last day at @rslwa after coming onboa Today was my last day at @rslwa after coming onboard for a 5 month contract as an Events Officer, supporting the delivery of the Anzac Day March through the Perth CBD.

A big jump from my decade of corporate events, which bought new learnings, new challenges and gave me a new perspective to event planning and delivery, which I’m grateful to add to my toolkit!

The downside I’ve discovered to freelancing is having to say goodbye when you’re enjoying the role, surrounded by a great team culture and passionate about the work that the company is doing. (The river views from the office didn’t hurt either).

Role on 2027 planning and hopefully the opportunity to come back on board again!
May is about clearing out, resting and setting mys May is about clearing out, resting and setting myself up for what’s next.

• Working with a client to clear out years of event collateral and signage. Helping them to reset their storage and putting a simple system in place so everything is organised and ready for future events.

• On 22 May I run my first ultra marathon. I’m also running in support of @bowelcanceraustralia. If you’d like to learn more or support, you can do so here: https://challenge.bowelcanceraustralia.org/page/StaceyBrimson

• A few days on the Gold Coast from 25 to 31 May to properly switch off and spend time with the family.

• And in between it all, I’m starting a mini MBA in Strategy and Leadership! A good opportunity to keep learning and continue building how I support future clients.
Since January, Chapter21 Events has been supportin Since January, Chapter21 Events has been supporting with the planning of the Anzac Day March, a hugely commemorative and important event in the calendar for current ADF members, veterans and their families.

On Anzac Day, I then stepped into the role of March Manager, on the ground helping to deliver the March, meeting veterans, assisting the public, liasing with Defence and managing the volunteers.

It was an incredibly emotional day watching everyone march and I feel honoured to have played a role in making this happen.

It has also been amazing to work with the incredible people at @rslwa, @mayler_and_co, @hellopav and Cassandra Brennan.

Lest we forget.

5am start. Final checks before the city wakes.

✔️Breakfast runs so volunteers are fuelled.
✔️Radios set, checked and distributed.
✔️Final briefings with volunteers, marshals and team leads.
✔️Welcoming veterans, units and associations as they arrive.
✔️Supporting the public with directions and questions.
✔️Cadet management and allocation to assist groups
✔️Giving the green light to start.

And then when the clock hit 9am, getting to step back for a fleeting moment to see all the hard work fall into place at they stepped off.
When you see the march, you don’t see the setup be When you see the march, you don’t see the setup behind it.

8 hours behind the scenes to get everything in place.

✔️ 7 banners, ironed and built.
✔️20 flags, checked and setup to lead the march.
✔️ Essential documents printed to assist volunteers, marchers and spectators on the day. ✔️Multi trolleys trips up and down the Terrace, delivering everything needed for the morning.
✔️Volunteer packs, clipboards, flag poles, association banners all in position.
✔️A final walk through to Langley Park to make sure the signage is exactly where it should be.

It’s a long day on your feet, but every detail matters when you’re delivering something of this scale.#perthevents #freelanceeventmanager #eventdelivery
I was recently tasked with overseeing the design, I was recently tasked with overseeing the design, print and install for all Anzac Day event signage (5 public events, attended by 1000’s of people). The volume of signage was vast, so my goal was to put a clear and efficient process in place that worked for each step.

And the key to it all was, quite literally, a key.

Here’s what worked:

1. Create a clear reference system

Each event was assigned a letter and every signage item a number. For example, March sat under M1 to M15. This sat in a working spreadsheet alongside approved copy and print specifications.

2. Evolve the document as you go

Once artwork was approved, the spreadsheet expanded to include a visual matrix. Every item had its reference number with an image, making it easy to identify at a glance.

3. Set up delivery for success

By print stage, everything was accounted for. Five pallets arrived on site with each box labelled by reference number and image (and grouped by event!) Thanks to Image Source Printers.

4. Make pack-in and install straightforward

What could have taken days to sort was done in a couple of hours. Quick check, count and straight into deployment. Site maps used the same references, so the install crew @cyclus_ were working with a system that already made sense.

This system took a lot of stress and hours of manpower out of the equation when we were already at crunch time. It’s a good reminder that when the structure is right from the beginning, everything that follows becomes a lot more straightforward.
When event planning starts to feel a bit too much, When event planning starts to feel a bit too much, a box of pastries probably isn’t what you need.

You need someone who can step in, take the pressure off and get it done.

Headset on and runsheet sorted. No fuss or panic, just a well-run event that hits your objectives.

That’s where I come in.

If you need an extra pair of hands, or someone to take the lead for a short stretch, I work with teams on flexible engagements to get events over the line, without adding to the chaos.

So step away from the pastries and order yourself an Event Manager instead.

April is all about clear communication, delivery a April is all about clear communication, delivery and managing pace.

• A big focus on briefings this month. Volunteers, suppliers and stakeholders. Making sure everyone is aligned, informed and confident in their role before we get to delivery.

• Delivery is front of mind, with Anzac Day at the end of the month. I’m responsible for the CBD march this year, so it’s a matter of making sure every moving part comes together as planned.

• Running is also a priority...literally! I am training for an ultra marathon in May and the Perth Marathon in October. So whenever I get a moment, I am out there clocking up the kms.

• Debriefs are already being planned. Even before the event happens, I’m setting up how feedback will be captured, reviewed and used. It makes the post-event process far more valuable and far less rushed.
